On my homefront there were 3 active shooters at a local mall who shot 2 people and scared the hell out of everyone else in the vicinity.
This makes people anxious to go out in public, and makes them afraid for the safety of themselves and their loved ones. Here’s where your inner peace comes in handy.
If you allow yourself in your mind to go to those scary places that cause you fear and you come up with a game plan of what your reaction might be – you can relieve yourself of some of the fear by being mentally prepared in your mind.
I’m not saying to dwell on it – quite the opposite. What I mean is – allow your brain to go to the scary place. Visualize what your plan of action to the situation may be… and then store it away for a day that will probably never come. But if it does – at least you are mentally prepared to deal with it.
Death is a part of life and some people die so tragically that our brains do not want to go there. Unfortunately that only causes more anxiety and stress.
See a therapist if you feel it would help for them to walk you through this, but otherwise – don’t allow the situation to rob you of your inner peace and living your life.
Me, personally, if someone pulls a gun on me and I don’t think I can safely run away – my plan is to get down on my knees and pray. Pray for the shooter, myself and my family. That’s my plan. I have come to my own personal peace with this and it has honestly helped take fear out of most situations.
That and the fact that I’m trying to live my life in a way that I clear my conscience every day and try not to wrack up any more things I might regret in my last breaths.
You can apply this to any situation that scares you or gives you anxiety.
Inner peace is important. It helps with not only your own life but with the balance of the world. Don’t let negative things rob you of that.
